Any group that can prove themselves as a Cohort on Anasta will have a history of Adversaries and Allies that help to define who they are. These characters are recurring and an important aspect of the stories being told. Many will likely have personal ties to one or more of the PCs in the Cohort.

The players and GM as a whole should help define these characters in Session Zero. If you are having a tough time coming up with ideas, you may use the tables below to spark ideas.

The Rank of the Adversary/Ally gives an indication of the strength of the relationship, not the relative power of the Adversary/Ally in the world. This rank may be used as a Ranked Simple modifier when appropriate in dealings with the Adversary/Ally, or potentially when dealing with other characters who may have a relationship with them.

Adversaries

The people and groups that oppose the Cohort can range from simple villains and foils, to former allies, to other heroes that just don’t see eye-to-eye.

Create one (1) Rank 3 Adversary, one (1) Rank 2 Adversary, and one (1) Rank 1 Adversary for the Cohort. These create Hindering(-) Simple modifiers when appropriate. Give each a name and short description of their relationship to the Cohort.

Allies

While the Cohort always look out for one another, they have (and often need) a larger network of supporters they can call upon.

Create one (1) Rank 3 Ally, one (1) Rank 2 Ally, and one (1) Rank 1 Ally for the Cohort. These create Beneficial(+) Simple modifiers when appropriate. Give each a name and short description of their relationship to the Cohort.

Adversary and Ally Seeds

The tables below represent common themes and groups in the game setting. They are intended to spark ideas and can be used equally for either Allies or Adversaries. They are far from exhaustive and are not binding: You may create your own Allies and Adversaries without the help of the tables.
