The Guild
Moonshards are the de facto high-end commodity in the world. While anyone can trade in found Moonshards, the Guild provides safe trade routes and markets for its members. Those found trading significant numbers of Moonshards are “highly encouraged” to become Guild members. To refuse an invitation to join the Guild may find one relived of their Moonshard burden and, in some cases, their lives.
The Guild counts more members among its ranks than any other faction by a significant margin. However, no one knows who controls or directs the Guild, or if any central authority actually exists. Most deal and pledge themselves to local, self-appointed Guild Barons, and the tenets of “The Guild” vary from Baron to Baron. All agree, however, that “Moonshards are King.”
The Guild controls the settlement of Freemarket, but is more or less influential anywhere Moonshards are traded.
Relationship to the other factions
The Guild sees opportunity anywhere and everywhere there are Moonshards or Ethertech; a person’s alignment to another faction is always secondary to this. The Guild rarely sees opportunity among Order Puritans, however, who are more likely to destroy Moonshards than to trade them.
