Motto
Create: One Motto
A Motto should be a simple, one-sentence statement that can help guide a player to make decisions for their character. It is connected to and demonstrates (one or both of) their Ethos. A good Motto can be used in many different situations, and works both for and against the character at different times.
A Motto can (and should) be used as often as desired in dialog and roleplay. However, while a PC is leading a Challenge, they may take the choice Destiny or Doom to use their Motto as A6 / 1d once per scenario. Outside of that use, the GM may (during appropriate moments) spend a Doom to activate a character’s Motto as A1 / 1d on the Cohort turn to represent the character’s principles hindering the Cohort.
Example Mottos:
- “I’m a man of mystery.” (Flair)
- “Failure is not an option.” (Discipline)
- “Inconceivable!” (Cunning)
- “I want to believe.” (Luck)
- “Strike first, strike hard, no mercy.” (Valor)
- “Let’s be civilized.” (Discipline)
