Synths descend from the now-extinct humans who focused on using Ethertech to enhance their physiology to survive the Age of Darkness. The proto-Synths were the first to discover Moon Relic infusion. At first, they incorporated inert Moonshards into protective suits to mitigate radiation poisoning. With more experimentation, they found that Moonshards could be powdered and spread on their flesh, and even mingled into it. After many generations, this process eventually resulted in Synths who were born more crystal Moonshard than flesh.

Synths’ crystalline bodies allow them to quickly adapt—and spontaneously create—Ethertech. As all Synth bioforms have this ability, Synth culture revolves around this genetic optimization through Ethertech. Most Synths are continually growing and replacing body parts and organs to create a structure superior to their current form. Some Synths scour ancient Archon sites in search of the lost Psience, looking to amplify their abilities. Others believe they are an evolution beyond the Archons and their Relics can be left in the past or to the less adaptive bioforms.

Synths have the smallest numbers among extant bioforms. While Synths do have a distinct culture they share with other Synths, due to their modest numbers this has not developed into a power-base like the other bioform-based factions on Anasta.

Traits

Regeneration

When you recover Stress, recover one (1) extra point. In addition, you ignore one level of Moon Relic Disruption.

Try Something New

Spend a Destiny point to create a Rank 2 Ethertech Ability in the Bio Manipulation category for the remainder of the scene. This Ability must make narrative sense. This Ability is considered infused Ethertech and adds one level of Moon Relic Disruption. When the Ability is removed, the level of Moon Relic Disruption is removed as well. This may be used once per scene. Abilities created in this way may be purchased as a Rank 1 Ability at the end of the scenario if you have Growth pool dice and Moonshards available (without the need for a Moon Relic).

Didn’t Need that Anyway

You may choose to remove an infused Ethertech Ability (including one created by Try Something New) and add a Destiny point to the Destiny pool. If it was a permanent Ability, you may replace it with a new Rank 1 Ability at the end of the scenario. This new Ability has the same category, but has a different channel. This replacement does not require use of the Growth pool. This may be used once per scene.
