Bioform Overview
A bioform defines the anatomy and physiology of a character. Bioforms each come with a range of unique traits, some of which may need to be unlocked through character growth. Those bioforms that create social bonds with others of the same bioform often have cultural norms when gathered in large numbers or settlements. PCs always have the choice of whether to observe or ignore such norms.
Below is a brief overview of each bioform available to PCs. Click through the bioform name to learn more about each, including a description for each bioform trait.
Child of the Moon
The Children of the Moon are imposing, upright wolves originally engineered by the Archons to guard their outposts in the distant past. These people display great physical strength and speed, and keen senses to help them locate friend and foe.
Huma
Although the human bioform went extinct during the Age of Darkness, the Humas of Anasta are the most recognizablly “human” of their descendents. In the millenia since, Humas have adapted to Anasta’s challenging (and sometimes unforgiving) environments at the genetic level, giving individuals striking or subtle differences that mark them as “non-human”.
Imp
These small, goblin-like people are known for the vibrant colors of their skin—some quite garish—and their devilish features that set other bioforms ill at ease. Imps have an innate ability to influence the minds of other bioforms.
Kam
The Kam are a lizard-like bioform found across Anasta, and come in a wide variety of appearances. Despite their differences in appearance, all Kam have a prehensile tail, the ability to climb steep surfaces, and can camouflage themselves under stress.
Mantid
Mantids are sturdy, mantis-like bioforms that arose after the Moonfall. The Mantid bioform has four arms, an exoskeleton, and the ability to make powerful leaps using their segmented legs.
Naga
The serpentine Naga bioform predates the Moonfall and descends from the time of the Archons. Nagas boast a powerful precognitive sense and psi-attuned claws that can paralyze on contact.
Synth
Synths descend from the now-extinct humans who focused on using Ethertech to enhance their physiology to survive the Age of Darkness. Their crystalline bodies allow them to quickly adapt—and spontaneously create—Ethertech.
Wildcaller
Wildcallers’ symbiotic relationship with their companion allows them to act as one organism, sharing each others’ senses, thoughts, and emotions. A Wildcaller will often display some of the outward characteristics of their companion, whether that be fur or feathers, claws or fangs.
Chimera
Chimeras display piecemeal anatomy and physiology as a mixture of two or three different bioforms. Chimeras have a mix of abilities depending on the bioforms they manifest.
Moonblooded
This genetic variant can be applied to any bioform
Some creatures display a distinctive albinism that mark them as having an ancestor that was an Archon. Moonblooded may appear in any bioform.
