Gaining New Abilities
There are three ways in which new Psionic Abilities may be gained using a character’s Growth pool.
- Infuse or integrate a new Moon Relic. The new Ability starts at Rank 1 .
- Build a new Solartech item. The new Ability starts at Rank 1 .
- Abilities connected to found/acquired items use their existing Rank. Until a PC uses their Growth pool to make the Ability “permanent”, they may spend a Destiny per Rank to activate such an Ability (including any stunts). For example, a Rank 3 item will cost three Destiny per use until it is made permanent. Until they make the Ability permanent, it takes up a Resource slot.
- Gaining a new Bonded Companion follows the same rules and found/acquired item Abilities. The Bonded Companion’s Ability Rank is used until made permanent with the Growth pool.
Combining Abilities
Narratively, one can combine any number of Abilities into an item or Bonded Companion, or infuse into one’s own genetic code. That is, one may have a Slicing Runesword that is wrapped in Etheric Flame (Rank 2 Energy Generation) and can cut through any material (Rank 3 Land Mastery). Only one Ability may be used per character per round, though a character may switch Abilities from round to round.
