Ability Name

Below are examples of how the combination of ability category, channel, and technology work together to guide the particular manifestation of an ability. Each is given a name based on the combination it represents. Work with the GM to come up with a fitting name for how your ability manifests if you have trouble coming up with one.

These examples are non-exhaustive: Creativity has free reign to play within the confines of the chosen aspects of the ability. Though ICE BLAST is listed below as Sea Mastery and Infused Ethertech, the same combination could be called “FROST STRIKE”, “WATER WHIP”, or “UNDINE’S TAIL”. Switching it to an ability integrated into an item (Ethertech or Solartech) could make it a “BLIZZARD GENERATOR” or “ICE DARTS”. Though these abilities share the same category-channel (Sea Mastery), the different flavors help your character stand out from others and help guide creating unique stunts for the ability as it gets stronger.

Suppose that a PC wants to create lightning bolts from their fingertips as an ability. They would likely choose Energy Generation as the category, then either Solaric or Etheric as the specific channel. Since they imagine that this will be an Infused ability (not dependent on using an item), it will have to be Ethertech. This limits the choice to Etheric Energy Generation, Infused Ethertech. They call it “ETHERIC ENERGY BOLTS”. Alternatively, they may have imagined the ability as Solartech-powered gloves, in which case it would have been Solaric Energy Generation, Solartech Item. Such an ability could be called “LIGHTNING GAUNTLETS”.
