Revealed Secrets
A character’s secrets can be a powerful tool for storytelling and gameplay. At a critical moment, a character may choose to reveal a shocking truth about themselves, giving the Cohort an advantage at the cost of Stress and a sense of Doom. This is an opportunity to create memorable moments that become future narrative hooks.
Reveal a Secret
Once per scenario, you may reveal a previously unknown fact about your past that is relevant to the situation. This is usually startling and unexpected knowledge that you have kept secret from your Cohort. When you Reveal a Secret, you immediately apply A6 / 2d to the Cohort pool, gain two (2) unpreventable Stress, and add two (2) points to the Doom pool.
Out in the Open
In future scenarios, you may take one (1) unpreventable Stress to use a revealed secret as A6 / 1d when relevant. This may be used once per scenario. The GM may also use this trait as a Hindering(-) -1 / 2d for the Cohort when relevant.
Example Secrets:
- “I was once a member of our rival Cohort.”
- “I have a hidden talent for navigating mazes.”
- “The Guild Baron is my former flame.”
- “My sibling is working for the Peacekeepers in Freemarket.”
- “I have a personal vendetta against the Order of the Sun.”
- “I was, in fact, raised by Children of the Moon.”
